More Knitting with Bernat Handicrafter "STRIPES"
.

"Two~way" Dishcloth done with "Tie Dye Stripes"
.
This "two~way" cloth pattern can be found here at "Strings and Sealing Wax"
.
Here is my "Scallop Pattern" cloth that I did using "Country Stripes".
.
This pretty pattern can be found here ...it only has the "pattern" instructions written out, so you need to add the stitches for your border on the sides and do extra rows for the top and bottom border...I just added 6 stitches...3 for each side and I knit 3 extra rows top and bottom for the border. This is a really pretty pattern and a simple one to follow.
.
And here is the "feather & fan" cloth that my dear daughter Kailey Marie(9yrs.old) knit up with Mary Anne's variatioin using her "Pinky Stripes". This is one of our favourite patterns to do up...looks soooooo pretty with the self~striping cotton!
.
If you happen to be a "fan" like me of the "feather & fan" stitch, here are more patterns using the stitch:
.
Enjoy!

So beautiful. I have started the feather and fan pattern with the natural stripes sugar and cream yarn. Should be interesting for me because this is my first attempt at increases and decreases.

Thanks Yvonne!
You'll do fine with the feather and fan, you'll see! Be careful though...they become addicting! You'll find yourself wanting to do more and more! Good Luck!

Question from a novice: Rachel, with self striping yarns, how do you know when to start the next row? Do you have to calculate it into your pattern? Or do you just look to see when the color changes on the yarn and then start a new row? As always, your projects are stunning!

Hello Wendy!
With the self~striping yarn, you don't have to worry about when to start the next row...all I do with it, is start my "cast on" stitches with the start of a full colour...for some reason, they only give you a little bit of a colour at the beginning of the ball, so I just scooch up to the next colour, and that's it...it changes colour all on it's own. That's the fun of knitting with them...no need to fuss, just knit...and even if it doesn't start changing colour at the beginning of the next row, it's hardly noticible if it starts changing in the middle. I hope this helps you out some...I say just go for it...have fun with it!

I love the way the "two-way" cloth looks with "stripes"! I just got myself the whole collection and I think I am going to give it a try.

I also have designed a baby blanket using "feather and fan" stitch and Baby Cloud yarn. It is called the "Fluffy Baby Blanket"

http://tricotine.typepad.com/weblog/2006/05/fluffy_baby_bla.html

It can also be found in the left side bar in my blog, under "Free Designs".

I love the Feather and Fan stith too! :-)

Thanks Isabelle!
I have to confess, I cheated in two spots on the 2 way cloth...all the other stripes lined up real nice but there were two places where it just wasn't working, so I clipped the yarn and "manually" changed the colour, all for "looks" of course!
I just went to your site to have a lookie loo at your fluffy baby blanket and it is too adorable! Love that yarn! I will have to pick some up on my next yarn shopping adventure!
