I'd like you to meet Duke!

Duke is the hawk that spends his WHOLE day perched on the very tippy top of the trees in my backyard. He's a gorgeouse creature. He's really a handsome fella. I do believe he's a bachelor. So if you know of any available lady hawks out there, please do spread the word that Duke is single and obviously looking.
.
If you click on the photos of the very dashing Duke, you will get a much better look at him. His eyes are quite haunting. He has spent the last couple of weeks in our yard calling out. I suppose he's searching for a mate. If that's what he's doing, he's not having much luck though. I kind of feel sorry for him. He seems to have such a lonely existence, just sitting there, day after day calling out but no one ever answers.

So I go outside and keep him company sometimes. I talk to him too sometimes. I figure it beats talking to myself which I do most of the time. I hope I'm not turning into some kind of a crazy bird lady! Gosh! Perhaps I've been spending too much time in the sun, or not getting out enough... I mean, my gosh, I'm starting to talk to the birds out here! I think I need help. Serious help. Poor Duke is probably looking down at me from that branch thinking I'm some kind of nut job cuz I'm talking to him!

Then again, perhaps he actually understands me and he's talking back to me. Maybe he's happy that someone actually notices him finally. Yeah, I'm gonna go with that theory...sounds much more comforting than becoming some kind of nutty lady talking to the wildlife out here!

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed meeting Duke. I'll keep you posted on his dating situation cuz I know you all need to know these things!
.
Hugs,
Rachel
.
P.S. Our next group knit along info coming soon... had some technical difficulties but things are back on track! I'll keep ya posted :o)
